Our client came in and discussed with us a set of drawers she was looking at getting revived, believed to have been originally made of fijian kauri it was solid quality piece of furniture that however no longer fitted in with the decor. It required some slight repair work around the drawers and stoppers but when we saw the photo come through our inbox, we saw french provincial and knew it had potential to be an amazing revival.  Our client came into the gallery and saw the duck egg blue colour swatch, a colour she was comfortable and familiar with and we were excited that she was wanting to work with it on such a large piece. We spoke about various finishes and aged looks, together we decided that the piece would suit a lightly aged finish to add depth to the colour and break it away from being one large solid block of colour. The detailing and craftsmanship on the drawers also called for it to be revived into a newly authentic period style piece.

We recommended that the knobs be changed out to complete the revival. We looked through a range of different options together and decided that pewter would  best suit the look and style we were after as well as tie in with the room it was going into which had tones of pewter.

We narrowed it down for our client and made recommendations for her to choose from two different styles of solid pewter knobs. Our client made a beautiful choice in choosing these fluted pewter knobs which tie in beautifully with the leaf detailing on the side of the drawers and complete this revival and its period look.

The entire dresser was hand painted in a duck egg blue, using brushwork to create texture and depth. It was then lightly distressed and aged using various techniques and wax systems.  The inner drawers were detailed in a matt off white, a beautiful pairing of colours creating a soft contrast as well as being a suitable clean crisp colour for storing linen /clothes.

It was lovely to be able to deliver the revival and see this piece take her place beautifully in the room, no longer as the odd one out but as a beautiful character piece in the room in her own right. We loved working on this project for our client and watching it slowly transform into a Taylored Revival. Another one we are very proud of.
